The Iron Goat

What's that you ask? Why it's a mining train, that replaced the goats that used to pull the mining carts up here in Canmore. And it's also the name of a restaurant here. Micah and I decided to eat there this evening, and we had a lovely time. They are one of the few restaurants with a variety of vegetarian options and everything can even be made gluten free. Not to mention a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. We sat on the patio and it actually felt a lil like summer time. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The husband and I wanted to act like tourists today and we went up the gondola in Banff. It had a stupendous view, especially from the point that you can walk to after arriving at the top. Banff has what I call sticky clouds, because the clouds ooze over the mountainsides with amazing speed and seem to cling to them. We had a "sticky cloud" rising up over the side of the mountain as we were heading to the point. It was fantastic to watch as it oozed towards us. But, this cloud happened to be a hail depository and by the time we reached the point, it was in full swing. The combination of warm and cold air was doing a number on my hair by this time. The husband tells me that I had about 10 single hairs literally sticking straight up on my head. He tried taking a picture, but it was too wet. He and some other random guy had a good laugh as I stood there watching them. The husband didn't have a hood, so we rushed back to the gondola, just in time for the rain to stop. The elevation was 9000 feet and we were rushing so much (and I'm probably out of shape as well) that I had to put my head between my knees. I felt better shortly and we took a few more pictures and headed down.

We then toured Banff and bought our first Christmas ornament, a frosted glass ball that says Banff, Canada on the back and has a hand-painted branch with 2 sparrows. It's simple, yet beautiful. We plan on getting an ornament every unique place that we go.

There are too many places to visit around here and too few days. We will simply have to come back.

Over and out.

A taste of what's to come ....

Once I get back from my honeymoon that is. It was a long, loooooong drive to Banff, Alberta yesterday, and I fully plan on taking advantage of my opportunity to do nothing except enjoy my new husband. Thoroughly.

Sooo, I'll be posting more detailed posts about the wedding, which was just about perfect, when I get back. One pic though to wet your appetite!

Nerves?

Well, not really. Not yet at least. I'm more stressed with trying to figure out what all needs to be done, but I think I'll just leave all that complicated stuff to my beautiful cousin, Mel, who is the event coordinator. God bless all the people coming out to help. Even my sister's parents in law came 3 days early to help. We have more than 20 people staying out here with us to help! It's starting to get crowded. ;)

I'd better go, we're at the community center mooching internet because there's none at the house. I ought to be back there making sure people don't put too many ruffles and bows on everything (as I despise too many ruffles and bows)....

Bittersweet

I'm so excited to be getting married, and the week here at the house has been great so far. I've even had time to relax. I have a feeling though, that the last couple days before the wedding are going to be really hectic.

The only drawback is I woke up feeling nauseous, for no good reason (at least not in my mind). I had to lay in bed all morning long. I'm finally up now, but feeling all tired and weak. Blech.

Getting married is bittersweet, because I've so enjoyed reading all the wedding blogs, but now I won't have any real excuse to look at them now. : ( It just won't be the same, because I won't be able to gather any more ideas, it will be all done and over.

I think my goal for this week is to just cherish each moment, after all, it only happens once (ideally).

5 days, and one that note ...

Baby niece and update

She is now over a month old! Times sure flies!

Wedding plans are coming, but I've got a million little things to do before my mom and dad head out today. I'm heading out tomorrow so I can catch my bachelorette party. It will be low-key. We're making jewelry for the wedding, watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and eating luscious gourmet food made by an awesome chef, my sister. :D

Such a Whiner

So, I was busy today and clipped the dogs (professional grooming of course *polishes grooming badge of honor*) and then one of my bridesmaids "G" came over spur of the moment and helped me wash the dogs and the car. Gosh, I'm so lucky to have such supportive and loving bridesmaids. I just told her that I was busy today and she said that she could come over and help. That made my day.

So, while clipping the dogs, I had to capture a video of Libby, the oldest, doing her little whining "talk". She just sounds so pitiful, yet there's nothing being done to her. It's just part of her personality I guess. If she didn't do it ALL-THE-TIME, it wouldn't be so funny. She doesn't seem to realize that . . . .

Watch your volume, she might be a little shrill for ya . . .

Don't worry, she was right as rain as soon as I took her off the clipping table. And, my ears were relieved.
